Healing Hands of Time

Alex laughed. "Uhm...grew up a quiet kid. Father's a little gruff. Mother's doting. Same old cliche sort of thing. I had my fair share of etiquette lessons and the whole bit. And now...well...I've probably disgraced the family name."

Door looked sideways at him, biting her lip, but Thatch quirked a little smile. "Disgracing the family name. The vanFoyer life in a nutshell."

The twins laughed good-naturedly.

"Haven't managed to do that yet." Aislin joked.

"Put it on our to-do list."

"Nah. Your parents love you too much to disown you," Thatch joked, nudging Aislin.

Aislin grinned and nudged him back. "This is true. Sounds like someone else I know."

"Pht. Not me," Thatch said, raising his eyebrows. "Definitely not me."

"Oh, I know that's right." Aislin laughed. "Heaven forbid."

"Only love Thatch gets is from you, Aislin," Door joked. "Sad, isn't it?"

Said brother made a face at her. "Funny."

"But true," Door presed.

Aislin laughed. "Poor thing, then. Because I'm hardly an overly-loving creature."

She grinned. "But I try."

Door began to speak, but a low chime interrupted her. The clocktower, striking the hour.

"...Noon-thirty already?" Thatch mused, raising a brow. "Just a few hours have gone by. Feels like... Forever."

[[Oh, let's!]]

Alex nodded. "No kidding."

[[Ahah. Few hours here. Three days in FK. XD]]

A knock at the door followed Alex's words.

"..What in the world...?" Door turned to look at the... door, frowning. "Who could that be?"

[[Since it IS your birthday."

Ariel rose and answered the door.

"Hello?"

"Good day, Miss. I'm terribly sorry to bother you, but could you and your family step into the square? We're performing a search of the city for two very dangerous people."

Ariel nodded, "Uhm, yeah. One moment, sir."

She ducked into the kitchen. "We're needed outside. Guards're conducting a search."

Aislin almost smiled and rose, marching around the table, through the living room, and out the door.

Ariel wasn't too far behind.

Door glanced at Alex, then Thatch, then Tremor, before following the twins. "What's this for?"

"Looking for dangerous people." Ariel explained.

"Dangerous..." She frowned, then her eyes widened. "Oh."

Alex swallowed, but realized they could care less about him. They were lookng for those two.

"Here's to the long arm of the law." he said lowly, raising an imaginary glass.

"And hoping that it's long enough to catch who they're going after," Door agreed quietly, nodding.

They filed into the street. Thatch raise a brow, watching the townspeople head for the square. "Some party."

The twins stood on tiptoe to see over the crowd's heads.

"They caught anybody yet?" Aislin asked.

"Seeing as no one's in the stocks, or strung up as a decoration, I'd say no," Thatch commented tactfully.

"Thatch!" Door hissed.

"...What?"

Ariel cast him a disapproving look, while Aislin chose to ignore his comment, instead peering around a particularly tall bystander.

"I'm looking for that little wench."

"If you see her partner, tell me," Thatch growled.

Door said nothing, just glancing through the crowd.

"Will do." Aislin confirmed, casting suspicious glances at every blonde in sight.
