Up to No Good

Bob wabbled down off the platform and down the road to the corner deli.

[Um. More witnesses? Or the chick? Or what? Lol.]

Zelda watched the proceedings with an odd look on her face, as if she couldn't believe what was happening.

"The next witness to come to the stand is the guard," he said, as the guard sat stiffly in the chair, his hands folded.

"Tell us what you saw." the lawyer instructed.

"I was told by a man to come down to the incident, where I saw a tall, lean man with light hair digging about through a young lady's money pouch."

"Who was this 'man' you speak of? Describe him for us if you would." Ryoushi began, he already knew the answers, but hey, a good defense attourney looks everywhere for false statements.

"Which man? The one who told me, or the robber?" the guard ased, his eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

Zelda watched each in turn, making small assessments.

"The one who told you..." Ryoushi replied.

"Well. He was...reather heavyset. And, was balding, yes. Balding. His clothing suggested someone that didn't have a very high income, or intelligence." he summed up.

"I see..." Ryoushi mused, crap... that's nearly true..., "What did this 'man' tell you exactly?"

"Well..he seemed a bit out of breath, so I couldn't understand him hardly. But, first he asked where the nearest butchers' shop was. So I directed him to it. Then, he informed me of the incident, and I rushed over as fast as I could. Seems odd he wouldn't have told me that first." he shrugged.

"So you threw this robber into jail, after you found him stealing from this lady *points*" Ryoushi asked.

"Yes. Of course." he said flatly.

"Well, my client, *takes mask off for a sec, flashing his real self as the 'robber', then replaces it on his face* remembers waking up in some house, and being arrested there." Ryoushi stated

"Also, he is charged with murder. So how would you explain him being in two places?" Ryoushi reasoned

"I don't know. All I did was send him off to the jail. I was only there for the robbery."

"So you have no idea what happened after you left him in jail?"

"I assume the guards kept an eye on him...?"

"No further questions," Ryoushi was not only trying to save his skin, but also trying to find out what happened before he was caught in the house.

The guard stepped down and walked out.
"No further witnesses."

"Is it time for my turn at the stand?" Ryoushi asked, getting a little impatient.
