Jetta sighed. "We got lost..."

"Understatement of the year.." Laurie mumbled.

Jetta pulled her ribbon loose, shook out her braids, and rewound them.

"The teacher didn't notice, did she?"

Laurie shrugged.
"Iddaknow..Hope not."

The coach pulled around in front of them and parked the cart.
"Alright. Everybody's back, I'm assuming. If not, they'll show up eventually. They always do."

Jetta blinked, appalled.

"And supposing they don't?" she asked no one in particular.

"Ever heard of little Susie Adkins?" Laurie asked absently, waiting for the coach to give their next instructions.

Jetta sighed. "No. But I have a sneaking suspicion you're going to tell me."

"My point exactly. A few years ago, we were doing this very thing. She got lost in those woods. Nobody ever heard from her again. They say she's still in there, and that if you get too far off track, she finds you. Nobody even wants to imagine what would happen if she found you. And that's why we run in pairs now."

"But thats just what they say," she said cooly, " A bunch of people have been dared to stay in there at night. I don't recall anybody ever taking the dare though. Too chicken."

Jetta laughed. "Poppycock." she said, waving Laurie's words away, "Running pairs goes without saying. It's natural. I'm sure there's nothing behind it that is at all paranormal."

Laurie shrugged.
"I knew the girl. If I remember correctly, she moved outta town or was home-schooled or something. But she did get lost in the woods. Turned up sometime the next day."

"Exactly." Jetta said. "See? Nothing odd at all about it."

"Pff, that old story... We've been in there before, nothing at all was there." Jon commented.

"Yea, all that was there were trees, and darkness," Fox added.

Jetta nodded, satisfied. "Susie Adkins...hmph..."

"What do we do now, coach?!" one of the kids asked.

"Alright, now we'll race the straight-aways. Form two lines and make 'em even. Don't everybody pile up in one line." she said as she got out of the cart and stood at the end of the track.

Jetta looked around at all the unfamiliar faces. There was that Gerudo she'd heard about...what was her name? Something with a K.

She looked athletic. Then there was that studious, matter of fact bookworm Sheikah...and the silent Zora girl...she saw Saraia not too far away.

Jetta filed into a line, behind the Zora.

Laurie squeazed into the line behind Saraia and just before Violet, whose perfume was making her gag.

"You will race down to where am and touch my hand. First to touch my hand, wins. Everyone in position?" she asked, getting several headnods.

Aqua nodded. She was a good head taller than her opponent, Violet, (or any of the girls for that matter).

She blinked at Violet.

"Ugh..the recluse.." she siad, looking up at the Zora.

"Ready..Set! GO!!" the coach called.

Aqua crouched, and away she went, her long, strong legs pumping and propelling her forward with incredible speed.

All those years of swimming had really done it for her.

Violet took off, her footfalls separated by mere milliseconds.

She drew closer to Aqua, but it would take a miracle for her to win.

Out of the corner of her eye, Aqua spotted Violet. She stopped holding back, and pumped harder, tagging the teacher's hand with her own scaled one.

A couple seconds later Violet tagged the coach's hand as well.
"Aughh!! Thats not fair!!" she whined, trotting back to the end of her line.

Aqua looked at her quizzically, but shrugged.

"How's it not fair, powderpuff? The girl's solid muscle. Swimmin'n whatnot." Kad noted

Violet glared Kadomi down as she stammered over her words for a reasonable explanation.
"UGHHH!!" she continued.

"Next!!" the teacher called out.

Kadomi shrugged. "Eloquent." she muttered, taking her stance.
