The Bearer of Bad News

Thatch frowned. "Hello....? Anyone here?"

"That's odd..." she mumbled, "Where could they be?"

She picked her way through the main room and glanced at the kitchen.

Thatch stepped into another room, and looked around.

"Any luck on your side," he called to Aislin.

"No," Aislin said, tapping her fingers on a table. "That's troublesome...no note, or anything..."

She glanced at him, "If you were Tremor, where would you go?"

"Insane," Thatch muttered under his breath, grinning.

"I dunno... probably somewhere I could be quiet, maybe? Or... talk so someone who doesn't usually talk...? Yeah... I got nothin'."

Meanwhile...

Aqua had done it again...she'd zoned out, and in the process, had bumped into someone...a small someone.

Ariel blinked up at the very tall Zora girl, who was looking down at her apologetically, extending a hand.

[[She can help. Oh yas]]

Aislin sighed, "I...don't know where Ariel could be."

The statement seemed to bother her.

Tremor blinked at the tall Zora, a bit taken aback. But then he waved, to prove that he was a nice young man who'd been taught manners.

And so, she waved in return. Still silent. And helped Ariel up.

Tremor glanced at Ariel, an 'are you okay' look on his face.

[[Yash, she speaks both languages.]]

Ariel nodded, glancing at the Zora again. Her attire was odd--not casual in the least. In fact, it looked like a uniform of sorts. There was an emblem with a large 'V' in script over her heart.

The girl, in turn, blinked at the redhead again, bowing as if to apologize.

That looks familiar, Tremor thought as he surveyed Aqua's attire, a brooding look on his face, and his lips parted as if he was going to speak.

But what came out of his mouth was likely unexpected.

You're working for the Vanderpuyes'? he said in a foreign language, fluid and swift, like water in itself.

Ariel blinked, listening to Tremor's silvery tongue.

The girl did likewise, and there seemed to flicker an interested light in her eyes.

She nodded slowly.

Tremor's pulse quickened, and he swallowed. Might you... be able to help us with something? We're curious about a... friend of the family, he went on. If that's not prying...

Aqua nodded, again. He gaze drifted to a nearby bench, and she took a step toward it, looking at Tremor and Ariel with a beckoning look.

Trem nodded and followed, keeping Ariel in front, like a gentleman.

Ariel followed the girl, casting a quizzical look back at Tremor.

Aqua sat. Ariel did likewise.

Trem smiled encouragingly, sitting on an adjacent bench. What... is happening, exactly? he began, unsure of how to ask the question properly.

"The young master is at odds with himself." she said carefully, "I do not know all of the details, but he will not eat. He is looking worse each day. I caught him crying once, but he did not know I was present. He looks as one whose heart has broken."

Ariel listened to them, confused and impatient, "What?"

Trem nodded, translating for Ariel. "Alex is a wreck, more or less. She says... says that he looks like his heart is broken..."

Aqua nodded, changing tongues. "He is hurt."

Ariel frowned. "But he's..."

"Is he?" Tremor cut in. "Remember the pigeons?"

Ariel nodded slowly. "I'm starting to think this isn't going to end well..."

Aqua blinked quizzically at the strangers. "Are you going to help him?"

Trem hesitated, then nodded. "If we can, yes. It involves my sister, and... she's been less than usual as well..."
