Orphanage on Main Street

Fang sighed, exited, and began her search for Gale again. Boy, did she have news for him...

"Friend of yours?" Allison asked nonchalantly

Gabriella shook here head as she grabbed some vegetables from a fruit stand, leaving a coin on the counter.
"Brother's 'friend-girl', if you know what I mean."

[Vegetables...from a fruit stand?]

"Does he like her?" Alice asked

[...Yes...vegetables...from a fruit stand that has fruits and vegetables...I, uh, think.]


"One should believe so, but didn't you hear her? She said he was ticked at her. It takes quite a bit to tick him off. They won't be talking for a while..."

"But I'm fairly certain she likes him."

Allison shrugged, "If you ask me, they're fools. If they like each other so, they shouldn't take it for granted by arguing over petty things. As his sister, you should try to repair the damage."

Alice cringed, "Um, don't let Allison anger you, Miss Gabriella.

"He's a big boy. He can handle himself. If he chooses to throw away another girl who's somehow fallen for him, so be it. I care for him and all that other junk, but he's told me on countless occasions to leave him and his love life alone, and that's ecactly what I plan on doing." she said, adding a loaf of bread to her basket.

" 'Another'?" Alice asked, "So he's let girls go before? On what grounds?"

Her eyes were wide and innocent.

"On the grounds that he must be a fool." allison said, yawning.

Alice sighed, "Really though, Miss Gabriella...why?"

Gabriella sighed.
"All the girls loved him. I don't know why, but they did. When we'd move from foster family to foster family, their hearts were broken. He hated it when it happened, he loved them all dearly, but not in the same way. Just as friends. He truly was a heartbreaker, but you could never blame him for it."

"That's so sweet..." Alice sighed dreamily.

"Sweet enough to make me throw up." Allison cut in.

Alice frowned, "So...has there ever been any girls that he actually did like? Y'know...like liked?"

"I'm sure there were some girls he fancied. He just never got too attatched, since he knew we'd be moving away soon after anyway." she said as she turned towards rthe gates of Hyrule.

"Has he finally found a place to take ground?" Alice asked.

If this man were to be her interim uncle, she wanted to know a lot about him.

Allison followed them from behind, arms folded across her chest, uninterested in their conversation.

"Not exactly. He has an...interesting...job to say at the least. He moves around a bit, but every once in a while he'll stop by."

They exited the gates, then headed to a patch of shrubbery. She pushed the bushes aside and ushered the girls through before following.

Alice sighed, "I feel bad for him. How is he ever going to find his love?"

Allison blinked, "Alice, things seldom have a storybook ending," she pointed out.

"...You dont' have to be a pessimist." Alice pointed out, hurt.

Allison sighed, "I am not a pessimist. I am a realist. There's a fine line."

"Sunshines got a point." she stuck a thumb to Allison.

At the end of the narrow path they followed, set Gabriella's home behind a creaky gate.

"In you go," she said, holding the door open.

Allison walked in slowly and examined a clock.

"It's five fifteen." she observed.

Alice's stomach growled rather loudly, "...Not to be a bother, but we ate dinner at six at the orphanage..." she said.

"Dinner'll be ready soon." she shut the door and sat the basket of goods on a table.

She walked towards some stairs.
"This way.." she called to them.

Alice followed obediently, Allison not far behind.

She topped the stairs to four doorways.
"My room." she pointed to the far right door.

"Guest room." she pointed to the one beside hers.

"The other two you both may decide who gets which one," she turned to go back downstairs,"I'll go fix dinner now, you two don't tear the place up." she joked.

"We'll just both go to the guest room..." Alice said, smiling.

Allison opened the door, and stepped inside.

"Quaint." she said.

"Whichever you want. Just know they're all free for you both." she turned the corner ater traveling down the stairs and entered the kitchen.

She set out the ingredients and set to work.

Alice smiled, "Lovely, isn't it?"

"I suppose."

Alice laughed, "I shouldn't like to trouble Miss Gabriella...let's just both sleep in here, alright?"

"Whatever suits you." Allison replied calmly.

Alice sat on the bed, "I should think it will get a little chilly in here."

"Perhaps." was the uninterested response. "But, that's why there are blankets."

Alice was too busy looking out the window. "Simply a lovely view!"

"It's alright." Allison said patiently. Sometimes her presence seemed much older than what should lie behind those eleven-year-old eyes. Now was one of those times.

After about thirty minutes of preparation, she'd finished the stew.
"Dinners ready!" she called out, grabbing their bowls and ladeled the stew into them.

Alice bounded downstairs, and skidded to a stop in front of Laurie, while Allison descended with much more poise and grace.

"Oh, it looks delicious!" Alice laughed, "Doesn't it look delicious, Allison?"

Allison merely picked up her bowl and looked at her stew. The girl gently blew upon the surface. Alice, however, took a giant bite...and made a noise resembling a mouse.

She managed to swallow it, but tears stung her eyes. "Hot..." she explained simply.

Allison looked at Alice as though she were stupid. "...That's why it's steaming, my dear Alice."

"I thought you might have enough sense to blow at it so it would cool. Apparently I was mistaken." she stirred the soup.

Allison frowned at Gabriella. "You are an adult. As such, I would appreciate it if you would refrain from ridiculing my dear cousin."
