After his wife died, however...his old self faded...he's now ill-tempered, pushy, irritable...and most of all, he has a general dislike of people. He's reminded of his wife in Zelda, and it pains him to stay with her for a long time. But on the flip side, he likes to have her around...as he's afraid that losing her will result in losing his memory of Zelda's mother. So, he keeps her in the castle like a caged sparrow...since Zelda left, however, he's taken a turn for the worse (if that is possible), and has almost given up on ruling Hyrule as it should be...
